ASDA:

The Supermarket chain Asda is to start selling second-hand clothes in its stores across the UK.. The retailer is partnering with the specialist trader Preloved Vintage Wholesale to sell used clothing in 50 stores, including in Bristol, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Brighton, after a successful trial in its special sustainability outlet in Leeds. The good value for money concept has proven a positive impact on footfall in ASDA pilot stores.

USA Today just revealed the 10 winners of the Best Supermarket category in this year’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. A panel of food experts chose the initial nominees before consumers cast their votes over the course of four weeks. When shopping at the #1 grocery store in America, you may actually be reminded of shopping in Europe. The Fresh Market strives to create “a more intimate and personalized shopping experience than the warehouse-type supermarkets popular” now. The list as well includes Hy-Vee on the second position and the European Low cost supermarkets Lidl has ranked 3rd on the list.

Nike Refurbished :

Nike Refurbished is Nike’s latest circular consumer offering. After a shopper returns a pair of shoes to Nike, Nike Refurbished tidies them up and then makes them a great value for Nike shoppers. Available at launch in up to 15 U.S. Nike stores, and with plans to continue scaling, Nike Refurbished is another example of Nike creating solutions at scale to help reduce its waste footprint while targetting more consumers with more affordable products.

Sephora and Kohl’s :

Sephora and Kohl’s has announced its assortment of over 125 prestige beauty brands, with 75% of them exclusive to Sephora U.S. and Sephora at Kohl’s locations. The assortment will be available in 200 Kohl’s stores beginning in August and the plans are to expand into at least 850 stores by 2023. Sephora’s and Kohl’s shared strategy is to provide customers nationwide access to a full range of prestige beauty products. 

Glue Store Australia :

Accent Group has entered into an agreement to acquire Australian youth apparel retailer Glue Store and the wholesale and distribution brands business of Next Athleisure (NAL) for $13 million. The deal means Glue’s retail business, which comprises a network of 21 stores and an integrated online site, will join Accent’s portfolio of retail brands including Dr Martens, Hype DC, Merrell, Platypus, SUBTYPE, The Athletes Foot, Vans and more.

Apple Russia :

Russia said it had fined Apple $12 million for alleged abuse of its dominance in the mobile applications market, in the latest dispute between Moscow and a Western technology firm. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) said on Tuesday that U.S. tech giant Apple’s distribution of apps through its iOS operating system gave its own products a competitive advantage. Apple said it “respectfully disagreed” with the FAS ruling and that it would appeal it.

About You :

German fashion e-tailer About You has claimed $1.2 billion in revenue last year after launching in more than a dozen European markets. Revenue grew 57 percent to €1.17 billion in the year to February, while in the last quarter the company turned its first profit before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization since its launch in 2014. About you is also developing an enterprise product that enables retailers and brands to set up and run their own online shops, competing with e-commerce solutions from established players SAP and Salesforce.
