UK Shops:
The UK Retail Sector has been showing an outstanding result since non-essential shops were allowed to open on April 12th. The lockdown situation was a very good learning for many small retailers to adjust their ways of selling in order for them to survive this crisis. Implementing an e-commerce website became a must for many retailers to sell and showcase their products. Alex from London has the story for us. Alex, how small retailers are dealing with the actual circumstances?
Avery Dennison Corporation:
Avery Dennison Corporation announced last week the launch of atma.io, a new digital venture from the global Fortune 500 company that bridges physical and digital worlds. atma.io is a connected product cloud: an end-to-end platform capable of creating, assigning and managing unique digital identities for every physical item in the world. atma.io completely reimagines how supply chains operate, how brands connect with individual consumers, and how global organizations can achieve their sustainability and transparency goals. Currently, atma.io manages over 10 billion unique items and adds over 50 new connected products to the platform every second.
Amazon Payment:
Amazon One was first introduced in Amazon’s physical stores last September, allowing shoppers to link their palm print biometrics to a credit card, then use it to pay in-store using the palm scanner. Now, the online retail giant has deployed Amazon One at Whole Foods in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood, with seven more stores in the Seattle area planned for the coming months.
Magnit Face Biometrics:
After the pilot success in 10 stores, the Russian supermarket chain magnit plan to launch face biometrics for payments to 100 grocery stores in the cities of Moscow and Krasnodar by June this year. The biometric technology reduces payment times from 34 seconds for cash and 15 seconds for payment cards to only 3 seconds which will have a positive impact on Magnit stores customers shopping experience.
Middlebrook Retail & Leisure park:
According to Trevor Wood Associates, Middlebrook Retail & Leisure Park in Bolton, been ranked the number one retail park in the UK. The 675k Sqft retail and leasure park was open for public in 1998. The middlebrook retail and leasure park offers an excellent convenience to shoppers with its 3000 free parking spots that includes 157 parking spaces reserved especially for disabled shoppers.
Tiffany Square Center :
The Tiffany Square Plaza in Boardman Ohio was sold recently for $16.5 million. Platz Realty Group announced the sale on Friday and The buyer’s name has not been revealed at this time. Tiffany Square consists of a 179,000-square-foot retail center and four out parcels. The retail center was built in 1973 and renovated in 2016 and 2017.
Tally Robots :
The Save Mart Companies launched a pilot program this April, in partnership with Simbe Robotics, to roll out the autonomous inventory robot Tally in select Save Mart. Tally robots autonomously audit store shelves to ensure products are in stock and in the correct location on the sales floor. The real-time data and inventory insights collected by Tally help retailers reduce out-of-stocks by up to 30% and enable store teams to focus on servicing customers. As part of the pilot program, The Save Mart Companies will deploy Tally in three Save Mart stores in the Modesto area; two Lucky California stores in Dublin and San Ramon; and two FoodMaxx locations in Modesto and Tracy.
